Passionate Hero

Larry Kramer is an AIDS activist, writer, Academy Award nominee, and provocateur extraordinair. He is a friend of Alexandra Billings and sent her a copy of a letter he wrote to the L A Times.

I am a letter's to the editor writing fool, I've written many (all published) and had been thinking of writing one myself. Thanks to Larry Kramer lighting a fire under my butt , I will. I am sick of all this ignorance and hate. It should be called out for what it is.

In the Black community especially, where it is stemming mostly from the church, the fear and hatred is ridiculous. That will be another journal topic. Please feel free to comment.

Yep, time to work on a version of Larry's letter for the African-American community as well.

Absolutely, we need a version of that letter in every paper in the nation!

Jackie,
I have been lurking for a long time on your blog. We used to work together, and remember how much fun you are. I didn't know you were gay but I now know others did. I actually never considered many of these problems of being gay. Bringing this upfront may be a good thing. The transgender thing escapes me tho. I've always thought that was purely entertainment based and not a real issue like homosexuality. its all very interesting.

Well Anonymous, I have no idea who you are. If you want to be unknown that's fine but why since you "know" me? Yes, Larry Kramer's letter is a good thing. Being a Trangender person is real and has nothing whatsoever to do with entertainment. If you want to email me with your name or with genuine discussion, do so. I have neither the time or inclination to guess who you are.
